This has a good chance of getting some awards
I think it's tough to be very interesting with this type of story, but you succeeded. The music worked very well, too.

Hey, hopeful words...thanks man.
Really nice work
Excellent art and animation, a really professional job. Only one criticism... the story has a Mac TV commercial quality which I didn't care for. I use Macs, I like them, but I don't like their commercials (remember that moron standing in a white room - "I had this PC which, like, ate my homework? And like I didn't know how to turn it on, you know?") The character in your movie isn't as stupid as her, but he's still a little slow (uh, how about putting your precious computer in a bag, Einstein?) and rather dull, and won't stop talking about his computer (ok, you love your Mac, we get it.)
But still, great job working with this material. I think your skills are solid.
It is no coincidence that the cartoon seems to have that "Mac TV commercial quality"--my original intention for the project was to pitch it to Apple to use at as an intro for Steve Jobs's keynote address in their final NYC Macworld Expo. Unfortunately, that ended up going nowhere. Also, the original interview was actually 30 minutes long, most of which was NOT Mac-hugging chatter, and I cut that down to just 90 seconds with a real Macintosh slant. And, believe it or not, Heath's Mac actually was in a bag on the subway! But that didn't work visually for the animation, so I edited out that detail in his narration. Other than that, the story is 100% true. Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Good first try, however...
rather than speed up the music to shorten the movie, why not just edit the song to make it shorter? You already took out the solo, so you must be familiar with the process involved. I understand you like the effect, but you must realize by now that hardly anyone else does. When making a music video, I think you should try to reproduce the song as well as possible (with reasonable compression.)
On the positive side, you draw well, and this is a very good first effort. I like the preloader, too. Try giving yourself a lot more time to work on your next movie... I think you'll be happy with the results.
Yea, i have come to grips with the fact everyone hates that chipmunk sound. so my next video that i have been working on for the past 2 weeks is not edited at all. Its a video to 311's song "reconsider Everything" off their album "evolver." Its coming along well and its not sped up whatsoever. Im sure it will do much better than this one. Thanks for your review.
poignant?
Your Flash skills are beyond doubt and well known, but even you admit (in a previous review response) that you were "just trying to go for a quick message rather than some elaborate film." That being the case, I feel I have to heavily base my review on the message.
My first thought is, who exactly are these characters supposed to be? OK, I guess the instigator must be Bush, but who are the two simple, smiling victims? Are they innocent Iraqi or Afghan civilians? Taliban? Uday and Qusay? American citizens? Civil liberties? Terrorists? You leave no clue.
Whoever they are, in your story there are no murderous, insane, Islamo-fascists who want to kill as many Americans as possible, only a murderous, insane American who blows himself up in the process of killing a smiling innocent. You should submit it to Al-Jazeera, they would love it.
you completely missed the point. those characters are NO country inparticular.
this film touches base on many levels, from gigantic topics to small ones. it could quite simply be a thread in a forum on a random website, or it could be what we see on TV. nobody was america, nobody was taliban, nobody was from greenland, nobody from australia.
it's people in general here.
Iseen worse
I've seen a lot worse, and you obviously took time to learn something about sound compression, which is nice. Probably the best advice I can give you is to drop the 'advance' buttons -- they're really not necessary.
Ok, I'll add voices next one.
interesting...
I really like how you tried something very different for the artwork, but personally I enjoyed the humor of "2 dudes part 2", and to a lesser extent "2 dudes" more. However I think this movie is better than the score received. Please continue to make movies; I think you have a lot of pontential.
thanks
I liked it
I like your work. Rather simple but effective and very funny. I also like how you keep the file size low in your movies -- I'm tired of downloading 4 meg crap that should be 300k.
yes, file size is always a consideration..even 250k can be a pain in the ass on a 56k connection.
nice work
you have a cool style and I can appreciate what you were trying to do, I just think this movie would be better if the pacing of the shots was a LOT quicker. It would be a much shorter movie, but I would like it more. Good work otherwise, though.
I agree with your sentiment (although some shots are purposely extra long). After working on it for days, I couldn't tell if the timing was quite right. Even now it's still too close to call for me, but I'll look back in a few days and if I think there need to be any corrections, I'll make them. Thanks!
